Civil War and Reconstruction

The Civil War is a dark, yet fascinating time.  We fought against ourselves in the bloodiest, most costly war in US History.   There's a lot to know about the war but we will concentrate on the causes and effects of the war itself.

In your notes:
Create a T-Chart comparing the North and South. 
What were the strengths and weaknesses of each side.
(textbook pp. 63 - 64)

Explain the Northern strategy "Anaconda Plan"
and the South's plan of fighting a defensive war and waiting to be attacked.

Assignment:  Analysis of Political Cartoon.

How was the Proclamation limited?

Turning Point and final stages:
Vicksburg and Gettysburg:  Why were these two battles considered the turning points of the war?

What happened at Appomattox?

How do you think the devastation of the Civil War will affect the South in the years to come?
